Bull Trial Centres 2009-10 Overview
This season Charolais Breeders New Zealand is running two satellite bull trials one at Silverstream in the South Island where 6 Charolais bulls are being grazed and assessed, concurrently with the South Island Angus trial.
In the North, 9 bulls are being managed and grazed in Feilding by the Gwillims. Thanks to these breeders who have stepped up to run the trial. By all accounts Charolais have sold well at Expo over the last three years they have been present.
Plenty of thought and discussion went into whether it was an option to hold a trial of bulls to be sold on at the National Sale with the current climate and uncertainty around the proposed changes to the National Show and Sale.
This led to the late start to the trial, on all accounts the bulls have settled in very well and a thank you to those members for participating in the 4th trial for the Charolais breed and hopefully we will see most of the bulls at Beef Expo 2010.
The sale date is Tues 18th May 2010, all breeds will be selling on the same day. Because there won’t be any official Open Days, apart from the Open Day before Expo, any one wishing to view the bulls may do so by appointment with the graziers.
Council will be sending out entry forms to assess the support for having a second female sale at Beef Expo in Feilding which was a great success last year, so get those girls picked and polished.
